PV modules alter the microclimate on the land. Partial shading lowers soil temperature, reduces evaporation, and can cut crop water needs by 10–30%. The modules also protect against hail, heavy rain, and late frost. These effects can be especially beneficial under climate change conditions such as heat and drought.
